Shannon Nelson

Director on BlackRock's Investment Stewardship Team

 

Shannon Nelson is a Director on BlackRock’s Investment Stewardship Team (BIS). Shannon leads stewardship activities for technology and telecommunication companies in the US and Canada. Her primary responsibilities include proxy voting and engaging with the boards, management teams, and sustainability professionals at portfolio companies on matters related to governance, environmental, and social issues.

Shannon began her career in BlackRock's Institutional Client Business and for half a decade, she was responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with institutional investors, including public and private pension plans, foundations and endowments. Prior to re-joining BlackRock in BIS in 2019, she was in the Markets group at the New York Federal Reserve, where she oversaw the Fed's securities lending program, traded Treasury securities, and engaged in various analytical work for monetary policy makers.

Shannon earned her BS degree in Economics from Duke University and her MBA from Harvard Business School. Shannon lives in Brooklyn with her husband and serves in various service and philanthropic capacities including on the finance/investment committee of San Diego-based Alliance Healthcare Foundation (AHF).
