H. Mallory Caldwell

Americas Health Sector Leader, EY

Mallory Caldwell is EY’s Americas Health Sector Leader. In this role, he is in service to our EY healthcare professionals, helping them to solve our clients’ most pressing issues, building a sector community and upholding the principles of One EY. Mallory is a Principal in EY’s Strategy and Transactions practice and the Americas SaT Leader for Healthcare at EY-Parthenon. Based in EY’s Houston office, Mallory brings 25 years of experience in a variety of strategic, operational and transactional business matters. Much of his work has focused on developing and leading the execution of organizational strategies in areas of care coordination, patient access, population health and value creation across large patient and community populations. His clients include safety net hospitals, large not-for-profit and community health systems, academic medical centers, children’s hospitals and other organizations in adjacent sectors. His writings include articles on strategic health system growth, transformation in pediatric care and care innovation. Prior to EY, Mallory was Senior Vice President at a large, urban academic medical system where he had operational responsibility for Surgery and the Hospital-Based Services as well as leadership responsibility for Strategy and Corporate Governance. Mallory spent 12 years at McKinsey & Co. where he was a Principal in the Houston office. At McKinsey, Mallory worked extensively in healthcare and life sciences and led the Performance Transformation practice for North America. Relevant experience Provided strategic and operational leadership over numerous value creation initiatives in healthcare, including growth, geographic and service-line extension, operational transformation (quality and efficiency), capital projects and network development. Executed hundreds of projects including strategy/market assessment, joint venture/alliance planning, operational diligence, synergy definition and capture, pro forma development, operational planning and management, and merger integration. Developed and implemented multiple strategic alliances to extend reach and impact of centers of excellence and to establish regional coordination of care for patients. Developed acquisition strategies and provided negotiation support for multiple provider system integrations, including development of post-merger enterprise strategy, identification of synergies, and prioritization of operational requirements. Education and Philanthropy Mallory received a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Mississippi.
