Diverse boards lead to better business outcomes. Driven by the growing recognition of diversity’s value, evolving societal norms, and legislative mandates promoting gender diversity in boardrooms, the opportunities for women to serve on boards are on the rise. Yet, despite this progress, only one in four directors at public companies are women. That number falls to just one in seven for private equity and venture capital-backed companies.
Breaking into the boardroom requires a strategic approach for women: amplifying expertise, building access to board networks, and navigating opportunities with intention. Once at the table, women must demonstrate strong business acumen and manage the unique challenges and dynamics they often face in board settings.
This session will explore the current landscape of women in boardrooms, highlight strategies for securing not only a seat but a seat of significance, and share best practices for becoming an impactful and effective MVP in the boardroom.
