About The Event
Join us for our annual Holiday Social which includes networking, dinner and a fun hot topic. This year we will be discussing managing culture and talent across five generations in one workplace. Americans are experiencing a culture revolution unlike anything we have seen since the 1960s.
Millennials and Gen Z make up nearly half of the US population and, as consumers and employees, they are dramatically changing the way we work. In the book Culture Shock: Surviving Five Generations in One Workplace, Joanna Dodd Massey, a communications expert with a doctorate in psychology and a master of business administration, does a deep dive into the five generations at work, examining how they behave and why. She will present her findings, describing how resistance is futile and how managers need to change or risk becoming irrelevant in the not-so-distant future. A complimentary copy of her book will be provided to attendees.
Samantha Dean, Vice President, Business Transformation, Edelman, will also discuss Edelman’s just released report, Brand Trust; The Gravitational Force of Gen Z which addresses the perspective of the Gen Z consumer and their trust in our companies and their brands.
These presentations will be followed by a panel discussion on experiences in dealing with different generations. We will expand the panel to include Shyam Gidumal and Lauren Smith. Shyam Gidumal, an experienced CEO, board director, and former president and chief operating officer of WeWork, has a unique perspective on working with different generations in the workplace. Lauren Smith of Diversified Search will share her experiences with recruiting the various generations and what it takes to attract new younger talent. The panel session will be interactive encouraging questions and input from the audience.
The moderator will be Mike Marino, Head of the New York Office, Frederick W. Cook.
