Sonny Cave is a retired Executive Officer from ON Semiconductor Corporation (“onsemi”; Nasdaq: ON) located in Phoenix, Arizona. During his tenure at onsemi, Sonny served in numerous pivotal roles, including Founding General Counsel, Executive Vice President, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer, and Secretary to the Board of Directors. He was instrumental in steering the company through its initial public offering in 2000, as well as through multiple strategic acquisitions to grow the company into a top tier player in the semiconductor industry. He also established a robust ethics and compliance program, earning onsemi the accolade of a World's Most Ethical Company by the Ethisphere Institute. In addition, he developed an award-winning, global enterprise risk management program designed to “stay ahead of the curve” by integrating risk management with corporate strategy, planning, and performance.
Sonny has extensive experience in international business, including in the Asia Pacific region and Europe where he held an expatriate assignment in Geneva, Switzerland during his tenure with Motorola Inc. prior to its spin out of onsemi. He holds a Directorship Certification from the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and CERT Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight through NACD and Carnegie Mellon University. He actively contributes to the advancement of education as a current member of the Alumni Board for the University of Colorado School of Law and his prior service as Vice Chair of the Board of the American Medical College of Homeopathy in Phoenix AZ (2005-2015). He also engages in community service through his current roles with the City of Mesa (AZ) Economic Development Advisory Board and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.
Sonny's educational background includes a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Colorado, a Master of Science in Botany/Plant Ecology from Arizona State University, and a Bachelor of Science, cum laude, with distinction in Botany from Duke University. His diverse experiences, expertise and passion for ethical and sustainable industry practices bring a wealth of knowledge and problem-solving skills to the complexities of corporate governance, risk management and strategy in today's dynamic business environment.
