John Capone

Office Managing Partner, New England & Upstate New York, KPMG

John Capone is the Office Managing Partner for KPMG’s New England and Upstate New York region of nearly two thousand professionals. He is responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality client service, developing marketplace strategy, attracting and retaining key resources, and representing the firm in the market and community. In his previous role as the Audit Partner-in-Charge, John was responsible for overseeing the delivery and directing of audit resources and attest services to the financial services, consumer and industrial markets, and public sector audit practices across seven regional offices.

John also served as lead audit and SEC Reviewing partner for many of KPMG’s larger asset management clients in Boston and New York. John has 30 years of experience serving financial services clients. Before joining KPMG, John spent nearly five years in the Division of Investment Management at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the last two of those years as Chief Accountant. He worked with many of the industry's most innovative and forward-looking companies to integrate the regulatory framework with current products and practices.

John frequently speaks at national asset management industry and corporate director conferences on current industry trends, valuation, director responsibility, and corporate governance.

John serves on the Board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston, the Steering Committee Member for KPMG's Family for Literacy, and a host committee member for First Literacy. John also serves on the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce board, the New England Council board, the Massachusetts High Tech Council, and the Massachusetts Business Roundtable. He earned his MBA from Columbia University and an undergraduate accounting degree from the Pennsylvania State University.
