

Sophie Vandebroek

Dr. Sophie Vandebroek is a seasoned executive with extensive C-level experience at IBM, Xerox, and UTC and has served on not-for-profit and public company boards since 2000. She is a digital expert with deep knowledge in the creation and application of technologies. Her technical expertise together with her strong proficiency leading large inclusive global organizations allows her to add significant value to Boards. Sophie has been in the technology industry for over three decades and is founder and owner of Strategic Visions Ventures, an innovation consulting firm. Previously Sophie was MIT’s Inaugural Visiting Scholar at the School of Engineering. Until 2019, she was vice president of emerging technology partnerships at IBM and served as chief operating officer of IBM Research. Before joining IBM, Sophie was Corporate Officer at Xerox serving as Chief Technology Officer and President of the Xerox Innovation Group from 2006 until 2016. Sophie has extensive experience as a corporate director and currently serves as a member of the Board for IDEXX Laboratories, Wolters Kluwer NV, and Inari Agriculture, a Flagship Company. She is a trustee at the Boston Museum of Sciences and she is a member of the Mass Audubon Society Council and is a corporate trustee at The Trustees organization. She also Chairs the international advisory board of the Flanders AI Research Program in Belgium and was appointed Honorary Professor at the KU Leuven Faculty of Engineering. Sophie is a Fellow of the Belgian-American Educational Foundation and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers. She was inducted into the Women in Technology Hall of Fame and elected into the Royal Flemish Academy for Arts & Sciences. Sophie’s passion for creating inclusive organizations where innovation thrives has earned her many awards over the years. Sophie grew up in Belgium. She earned a master's degree in Engineering from KU Leuven, Belgium and a Ph.D. in Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.
