

Grant Chaney, CFA
Senior Vice President - Financial Advisor
Grant joined RBC Wealth Management in January 2021 as a financial advisor with The McCarthy Wealth Group. Grant began his career in 2015 at Bernstein Private Wealth Management in New York. He was selected to join the firm’s Advisor Training Program in 2017 and promoted to advisor in 2018. Grant partnered with a senior principal to co-run the New York office’s largest asset base, focusing on families, foundations, and multi-family office clients. In 2019, Grant joined SCS Financial, a multi-family office, as an advisor working with ultra-high-net worth families. His clients included athletes, entrepreneurs, executives, and multi-generational families with complex estate and financial planning needs.
Grant earned his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2019. He has developed a niche in tax-considerate portfolio management utilizing both public and private investments. Like Bob, he has earned the Senior Portfolio Manager - Portfolio Focus, title at RBC. Grant is also a member of the firm’s Alternative Investments Advisory Council, a select group of elite advisors across the U.S. who collaborate with RBC’s private investment research team and focus on working with ultra-high-net worth clients. Grant has received recognition from national publications including the Forbes Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors Best-In-State award in 2024, and has been featured in a Barron’s article discussing financial considerations for college athletes.
Grant graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in finance with an investment management focus and a Bachelor of Science in accounting with a financial accounting focus. During his time at Virginia Tech, Grant was a member of the intercollegiate club golf team and the consumer sector portfolio manager for Virginia Tech SEED, one of the largest entirely student-managed equity portfolios in the country. Outside of the office, he enjoys golf, music, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family. Grant grew up in Frederick, MD and now resides in Raleigh with his wife, Lauren
