John Boyer, NACD.DC

Director

John Boyer is a visionary leader with 30 years at the helm of three internationally recognized cultural nonprofits and 22 concurrent years as a trusted independent board director of mutual funds. He currently serves as independent director on the board of Voya Mutual Funds, as well as Compliance Committee chair and immediate past board chair. He also previously served as independent director of IPI funds at Aetna Financial Services.

Boyer held the role of president and CEO at The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art in Charlotte, NC, for more than 10 years. Previous to that, he served as president and CEO of Roosevelt Institute in New York, NY - a think tank and public policy institute - as well as executive director of the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford, CT.

Boyer has held board positions at several other organizations, including Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, Charlotte Regional Visitors Association, Davidson College, Connecticut Tourism Council, MetroHartford Alliance Millennium Group, and Greater Hartford Tourism District. He also served as a visiting assistant professor and lecturer at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, offering courses in American architecture, 19th-century architecture, 20th-century architecture, the history of photography, and art from 1750 to the present, and seminars in urban planning and other subjects.

Boyer has an MFA from Princeton University and a BA in Art History from University of California, Santa Barbara.
