More Than Half of Public Company Boards Recognize the Effects of Short-Termism

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 5, 2017) – The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the standard setter for responsible board leadership, today announced the release of its 2016–2017 NACD Public Company Governance Survey. The findings highlight the challenge that faces corporations attempting to strike a balance between gains from short-term initiatives and the creation of long-term value. Of the more than 600 public company directors and governance professionals surveyed, 75 percent indicated that pressure from external sources to make short-term gains is compromising management's focus on long-term strategic goals. NACD Global Board Leaders’ Summit: Making an Investment in Corporate Culture

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Oct. 13, 2016) – The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the standard setter for responsible board leadership, held its annual Global Board Leaders’ Summit from September 17–20. More than 1,300 board members and business leaders from around the world were in attendance to gather insights on some of the most pressing issues confronting board leadership. NACD “Dancing With the Start-Ups” Recognizes 3 Leading-Edge Companies

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Oct. 11, 2016) — The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the standard setter for board leadership, recently awarded each of three emerging companies—BoostUp, Vital Vio, and Disease Diagnostic Group—a $30,000 prize package at its first start-up pitch competition. The competition, “Dancing With the Start-Ups,” was a fast-paced, Shark Tank-style challenge where 12 start-ups from the health, energy, and financial services sectors had four minutes to sell their companies to a panel of expert judges and an audience of corporate directors.

Peter R. Gleason Joins NACD's Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Oct. 3, 2016) – The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the standard setter for responsible board leadership, today announced the appointment of current NACD president and future CEO Peter R. Gleason to its board of directors effective immediately. Gleason's transition to the CEO role, which will be effective in January 2017, was announced at the NACD Global Board Leaders’ Summit last month.

NACD Announces Peter R. Gleason as Next CEO

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 19, 2016) – The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the standard setter for responsible board leadership, today announced that Peter R. Gleason, current president of NACD, will become president and CEO of NACD in January 2017. After nearly 10 years as CEO, Ken Daly will retire on January 25, 2017.
