CBJ Morning Buzz: MJ on top again, Queens honors Deloitte leader

In local news:

There may be some small debate about who is the greatest basketball player of all time. But Michael Jordan has again shown his dominance off the court in Forbes just released ranking of the highest-paid athletes of all time. While MJ made more than $4 million in only two of his 15 NBA seasons as a player, the story notes, he became a dominant force in marketing, taking athlete endorsements to a level still unmatched. "The result: Jordan is the highest-paid athlete of all time at $1.85 billion in 2017 dollars (the tally is $1.5 billion in current dollars)," Forbes says. And while Jordan is still a significant player in product endorsements, it is his purchase of the Charlotte Hornets that pushed him to No. 1 all time, Forbes says. "The investment that made him a billionaire was the $175 million fire-sale price he got the Charlotte Bobcats (now the Hornets) for in 2010. Jordan bumped his Hornets stake to 90% in 2013, and the team is now worth $780 million," Forbes notes.
