The Center for Board Leadership (CBL) was created by NACD and its alliance partner, Heidrick & Struggles, to promote board leadership through research in best practices in corporate governance. A result of these early efforts was the convening of several Blue Ribbon Commissions and Reports on such critical governance issues as Director Professionalism, Executive and Director Compensation, CEO Succession, and Audit Committee Performance.

Today, The Center For Board Leadership not only conducts best practices research but also assesses and provides recognition of companies committed to excellence in board governance whose practices consistently represent the highest standards of board performance.
