The Conference kicked off on Sunday, October 19 with:
- A lesson in "Leadership under Pressure" from Admiral William J. Fallon.
- A check-in on current opinions on the financial crisis via our Audience Response System .
- Our first plenary session, which looked at practical ways The CEO and Board Can Work Together to Increase Shareholder Value .

On Monday, October 20:
- We released our newest Blue Ribbon Commission Report during a plenary session on Keys to Success in Board and Shareholder Communications .
- Former Delaware Supreme Court Chief Justice Norman Veasey moderated a session on Lessons from Recent Litigation Involving Directors' Fiduciary Duties .
- NACD CEO Ken Daly announced the release of the Key Agreed Principles for Strengthening Corporate Governance .
- Then, Directors and Shareholders Discussed the Future of the Proxy Industry .
- At the day's last session, directors focused on Identifying, Monitoring, and Avoiding the Risks that Matter the Most .
- That evening, NACD presented the Public, Private, and Nonprofit Director of the Year Awards, as well as the B. Kenneth West Lifetime Achievement Award.

- Followed by a session on: The Board Book: An Insider's Guide for Directors and Trustees .
