2008 NACD Corporate Governance Conference
October 22, 2008
Dear 2008 NACD Corporate Governance Conference Attendees,
Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time out of your increasingly hectic schedules, in an increasingly chaotic economic environment, and for adding your voice to the chorus of directors and leaders at this year's conference.
The National Association of Corporate Directors holds the NACD Corporate Governance Conference annually, and never before has our world needed a more clear statement on the fundamentals of corporate governance - to empower you to make the decisions that are right, that are just, and that are principled. And to that end, this year's Conference saw the release of the NACD Key Agreed Governance Principles. We have planted our flag on the field of board behavior and responsibilities, and we hope you'll take the time to communicate with us and with your board about them.
We also shared our challenges and our ideas and best practices with one another in numerous interactive sessions. We released recommendations of our latest Blue Ribbon Commission report on Board-Shareholder Communication. We also released the first in our series of 2008 Governance Surveys, the Public Company Governance Report. The Nonprofit and Private Company reports will be available soon.
In short, this year's Conference was a valuable few days where we all came together to reassess our environment, and to recognize the value we bring to companies as board members and leaders. NACD hopes you will return next year for the 2009 Conference. one year bolder, one year more experienced, and one year more prepared for the unexpected.
Thank you again for your involvement.
Warm regards,
Ken Daly
